A perfect drive for comfort at St Andrews
St Andrews is synonymous with golf, known worldwide as the “Home of Golf” and record host of the prestigious Open Championship. Visitors travel from across the world year-round for its iconic courses and facilities, making comfortable indoor conditions an important part of the overall experience.
Scotland’s varied and often challenging weather means entrances at St Andrews are exposed to the elements. Combined with a constant flow of visitors, achieving a stable and comfortable indoor environment required a solution that could regulate internal temperatures without disrupting visual integrity.
To achieve this, four Aris concealed air curtains were specified and supplied through CEG (UK), a rapidly expanding supplier of HVAC solutions. Installed at the entrances to the Golf Pro Shop and main entrance lobby, the units were finished in RAL 9010 and RAL 9003 to complement the surrounding interiors, ensuring a clean and unobtrusive appearance.
Ashley Thomas of CEG (UK) commented,
“With high traffic levels and constant door operation, maintaining internal temperature stability was a key challenge. The Aris air curtains deliver consistent airflow across the openings, helping to minimise heat loss and improve overall energy efficiency, while integrating seamlessly into both the Pro Shop and entrance lobby.”
By creating an invisible barrier across the doorways, these vertical air curtain units help prevent external air entering the building, supporting energy efficiency with consistent indoor conditions throughout the day, even during peak periods and changing weather.
The Aris is a commercial air curtain designed for entrances where performance and aesthetics need to work together. Its smooth, contemporary front panel can be customised to suit the interior, while a hidden inlet grille keeps internal components out of sight for a clean, modest finish. Anodised aluminium outlet vanes ensure consistent airflow across the opening, helping regulate internal conditions without compromising the look of the space. The system is controlled via the Advanced PRO controller, offering intuitive control options including thermostat regulation, door contact integration, and remote operation for efficient day-to-day use.
Available in a variety of RAL colours beyond standard white, the Aris can be tailored to complement different design schemes while maintaining high levels of performance.
The result for St Andrews is a welcoming, efficient environment that blends with its heritage - keeping the focus on the scorecard, not the temperature.
